PWWTU Meeting – Monday, November 12th, 2018
7:00 PM: Christ Church @ Grove Farm – off the Mt. Nebo exit on Rt. 79
Featuring: Bruce Cox
“What is it about Brown Trout? Everyone loves them. They are the consummate “wild” fish here in PA. We do love our native brookies and so many have worked to establish the great put and take / delayed harvest fisheries based largely on the Rainbow, but it is the big Brown that puffs our chest out. Steelhead in itself is a maddening pursuit with the explosive runs on our Erie tribs but even there it is the occasional Brown that turns heads especially if it is a big brown.
After years chasing Steels, getting fed up with the crowds and dedicating myself to pursuing wild brookies in the Octobers for many years the lure of big browns never left. Somehow I remembered a few trips up to the tribs of NY and kept hearing the accounts of large brown trout there, some weighing in at 20lbs. I couldn’t get it out of my mind and it spread to a passion to put a 10lb brown into my net.
My program will follow my pursuit along with what I have learned fishing Oak Orchard Creek in NY to make my 10 pounds plus Brown a reality and present information dealing with the details of where it’s at, where to stay, outfitting up, rigging, casting, flies, stream sections, combat fishing strategies and psyche needed for success.”
