SUMMARY:Bar Flies Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The group meets the fourth Monday of each month (unless specified) at 7:00 pm at Howard’s Tavern\, 98 Center Ave\, West View\, PA 15229. Some folks show up around 6 pm to get some extra time behind the vise. All are welcome and be assured it is a relaxed\, low-key environment to learn and exchange fishing and tying stories. Let’s get those boxes ready for the season! \nYou can park in the lot\, and Howard’s has a handicap ramp and entrance into the dining room on the side of the building. Drinks and a menu are available. \nWebsite: www.howardstavern.com \nFor beginner tiers\, or anyone else:\nWe’ll be doing a demo tie of a sparkle dun and variations\, so come learn a few tricks and tips! We’ll have materials ready to go. Bring your equipment\, and if you don’t have any – no problem. DESCRIPTION:This 2-day\, citizen-scientist program teaches conservation to youth ages 11 to 14 through a variety of fun\, hands-on activities that encourage youth to get out and explore the world around them. \nHeld over two consecutive Saturdays\, it includes: \nDay 1 (June 3):  \n\nExplore the Water: Walk along the stream and lake. You might discover something new along the way! \nKnot Physics: Tie and test common fishing knots. \nBug Hunt: Search for Macro-invertebrates in the stream. You’ll be amazed what you can find under a rock! \nArt Imitates Life: Learn to tie flies that match what you found on your Bug Hunt.\n\nDay 2 (June 10):  \n\nGo with the Flow: Release your rubber duck to measure key characteristics of streams and lakes \nFishing with Physics: Learn how to cast a fly and properly fight a fish. We will also be providing some light snacks as well as drinks and water. Snacks will include peanut-free and gluten-free snack options.
