SUMMARY:Tree Planting at Linbrook Woodlands
DESCRIPTION:Penn’s Woods West TU and Allegheny Land Trust (ALT) is hosting a tree planting event along the creek on the Linbrook Woodlands property\, and we need your help! \nSaturday\, November 23\, 2024 @ 9:30AM — 12:30PM\, strap on your muck boots and join PWWTU and ALT and others in planting trees along the Big Sewickley Creek! This planting will strengthen the riparian buffer that winds through Linbrook Woodlands\, providing habitat for fish\, birds\, and other wildlife\, and making a stronger stream bank to prevent soil erosion. \nVolunteers will work with shovels\, rebar poles\, and pruners to plant trees and install live stakes in and along the creek. Some light lifting may be involved\, but we can accommodate to make sure everyone has something to contribute. Tools and gloves will be provided. Participants should dress appropriately for walking in cold\, wet\, and muddy conditions. \nRegistration is required so we can communicate in case of any necessary changes: \nhttps://alleghenylandtrust.networkforgood.com/events/77632-tree-planting-at-linbrook-woodlands \nEvent will take place rain or shine\, but we will cancel in case of thunderstorms or floods. Children are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring a reusable water bottle. There are no restrooms on site. \nWe could not accomplish the wonderful things we do to help our watershed be healthy without the generous support of the community—We hope to see you there! And please\, feel free to share with friends\, neighbors\, and family! \nThanks all!

SUMMARY:Stream for Panfish or Bass
DESCRIPTION:Women and Diversity Event\nFishing license required. Trout stamp may be required based on lake. Bring your own kayak if you wish to kayak. \nDifficultly Level: Moderate\nRegistration: Registration is via an Eventbrite link provided by email approximately 2 weeks prior to the date for all day trips. Weekend events are usually opened for registration at least a month prior. The email contains details regarding the final location as well as any contingencies or back-up options. Registration is free but all attendees must register. Final confirmation of a location is sent to all registered participants Thursday evening prior to the event. This allows us to make any final adjustments due to weather or water conditions. We will also schedule a Thursday evening webinar to introduce ourselves before the easy and beginner events. This allows us to meet newcomers “virtually” before the event. \nDifficulty Level: The difficulty levels listed below are based on the location and nature of the activity required including equipment needed\, cold weather\, wading difficulty\, the need to walk into a stream and so forth. \n\nBeginner: These events require no equipment and are designed to help people completely new to flyfishing learn the basics. You should expect to get wet during these events even though you do not need waders or boots.\nEasy: These events are held in a location where wading is either minimal or easy. Waders and boots may be needed for these events when fishing for trout.\nModerate: These events require some equipment and wading or walking will be required. Some experience is recommended.\nDifficult/Advanced: These events are either very technical or require the willingness to hike or wade in difficult conditions. They will require appropriate gear and preparation. Examples include wading in very cold\, slippery conditions during Steelheading or delicate\, accurate casting on small\, remote streams .Experience with the conditions described is required as well as all equipment.
