SUMMARY:2023 Fly Tier's Reunion
DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Fly Tier’s Reunion is set for Wednesday evening April 19\, at the Highlands Sporting Clays Lodge located at 199 Teal Drive\, Champion\, PA at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Somerset County. \nThe event will feature nationally known fly tiers from around the northeastern United States who will be demonstrating their fly tying skills and showcasing their famous and signature fly patterns. All the tiers will provide advice\, answer questions and share their secrets that have helped make them among the best fly tiers in the world. \nThe event is free and open to the public and will begin at 6:00 PM and conclude at 9:00 PM. Attendees are also encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the Lodge’s excellent food and beverage selections. In addition\, this year the first 25 youngsters under the age of 16 who attend will receive a tying gift bag valued at $40.00 worth of fly tying materials. \nLenny Lichvar\, President of the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited and a co-author of the book Keystone Fly Fishing\, will also be on hand to discuss coldwater resource conservation issues and provide information on local angling destinations.\nFor questions or more information call 814-926-6145.

DESCRIPTION:Description: Join us to trout fish for stocked trout on Pine Creek or Oil Creek.; Difficulty: Moderate (Wading/walking trails required) \n \nWhat You Will Need: waders\, boots\, staff\, fly rod and basic gear\, fishing license ad trout stamp required. \n  \nAbout the Penn Woods West Trout Unlimited Women and Diversity Initiative Schedule 2023:  \nWe try to adhere to the dates below unless something unexpected occurs. However\, locations may change depending on weather\, trout stocking\, and water levels. In general\, we meet around 10AM and officially stop fishing around 2PM or 3PM. Events are free but registration is required.  \nRegistration: Registration is via an Eventbrite link provided by email approximately 2 weeks prior to the date. The email contains details regarding the final location as well as any contingencies or back-up options. Registration is free but all attendees must register. We also generally schedule a pre-event virtual webinar to answer any final questions the Thursday prior to the event. Final confirmation of a location is then sent to all registered participants. This allows us to make any final adjustments due to weather or water conditions.  \nDifficulty Level: The difficulty levels listed below are based on the location and nature of the activity required including equipment needed\, cold weather\, wading difficulty\, the need to walk into a stream and so forth.  \n\nBeginner: These events require no equipment and are designed to help people completely new to flyfishing learn the basics. You should expect to get wet during these events even though you do not need waders or boots. \nEasy: These events are held in a location where wading is either minimal or easy. Waders and boots are needed for these events. \nModerate: These events require some equipment and wading or walking will be required. Some experience is helpful. \nDifficult: These events are either very technical or require the willingness to hike or wade in difficult conditions. They will require appropriate gear and preparation. For example\, the ability to wade into cold water during Steelheading season. \n\nNOTE: A Fishing License is required for every event unless noted otherwise below. Trout Stamp is required for most. SUMMARY:Stream Keepers Volunteer and Organization Seminar 2023
DESCRIPTION:Purpose: This one-day event will provide an overview of the Stream Keepers and Stream Girls program including key principles of the program\, location selection\, volunteer preparation and the key elements. Trout Unlimited chapters and other organizations interested in the program are welcome to send adult representatives to learn about the program. Location: This seminar is being held on-location at North Park in Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) PA. The location is where Penn’s Woods will be hosting their Stream Keepers event this spring. Seminar Format: The Seminar will be divided into an AM and PM session. The AM session will cover the purpose of Stream Keepers and general considerations for hosting a program including location\, clearances\, and volunteer recruiting and training opportunities. The PM session will be an interactive review of the key elements of Stream Keepers geared towards volunteers or those who are ready to plan their Stream Keepers program. Those who are only interested in learning more about Stream Keepers are welcome to attend only the AM session. Seminar Location and Details: The Seminar will be held outside at a picnic pavilion in North Park (Pittsburgh). The pavilion is on a slope and parking is at the bottom of the slope or across the street. A porta john is nearby and and other amenities are just across the stream. Please plan accordingly.
