We all missed this booth at Cabin Fever (6-2-2020)

Rick Latham is an art publisher from Narberth, PA. Maybe this distance to Pittsburgh discouraged his attendance at Cabin Fever. Rick’s buddy, B. Riley spent a year carefully drawing 12 classic dry flies which were collated and turned into a 20-24″ print on quality grade, acid-free, rag paper. Click here for more information. He considers the retail price of a print in this limited edition to be $150 but has a special offer for TU members: $50 each plus $5 shipping and handling. Click here to see the print.

John Hayes – how fish see (5-31-2020)

John Hayes has provided a great summary of how fish see and the variables that affect their vision in the water. This information is relevant to all fishermen and fisherwomen. The original article appeared in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette on May 28, 2020. Click Here for the full report.

Fly casting with Joan Wulff (5-29-2020)

This from George Altemus:

Winston Rod Co has produced a 10-part video of Joan Wulff demonstrating basic and advanced fly casting techniques.  Joan was married to Lee Wulff, and was 20 years his junior.  She distinguished herself by beating all competitors in distance casting competition as a young woman who weighed barely 100 pounds. Her perfect form and maximum utilization of the mechanics involved in distance casting allowed her to cast further than men much larger and stronger than she. She was the National Casting Champion from 1943 to 1960, and made a record 161-foot cast.

She and Lee ran a flyfishing school at Lew Beach on the upper Beaverkill River in the New York Catskills.

Sadly, Joan passed away two years ago at age 82. FACT CHECK by Bryan Mathie: Incorrect, Joan is still alive and active at age 92.

The video was produced by Winston Rod Company. Click Here to go there.
