Introduction to Fly Fishing
March 25, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Two day-long sessions being held on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 at the Wilkins School Community Center, 7604 Charleston Ave., Pittsburgh PA 15218 (Regent Square neighborhood of Pittsburgh’s East End). Classes will run from 9:00 to about 3:00 each day, with lunch provided by Penn’s Woods West TU. Session sizes are limited so we can provide personalized instruction with each participant.
The course will cover areas such as equipment needs, useful knots, fly selection and basic entomology, how to read the water for locations likely containing fish, and a demonstration and basic instruction on how to cast fly rods.
Scott Loughner, local fly-fishing expert, is the primary instructor and will be assisted by members of Penn’s Woods West TU.
To sign up for one of the two sessions, please contact TU member Ed Barger at [email protected], and use the subject “Free Fly-Fishing School 2023” in the email.
